David von Bassewitz, born in 1975, is one of the most influential German illustrators of his generation. In 2010 he was awarded Best Illustrator by the Art Directors Club Europe. His illustrations appear in Die Zeit, stern and Le Nouvel Observateur and have been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London. David von Bassewitz published his first graphic novel, "Vasmer's Bruder" (scenario: Peer Meter), in 2014 (Carlsen). In 2022, the first part of the biography of the musician Karlheinz Stockhausen was published in collaboration with the author Thomas von Steinaecker: "Stockhausen: Der Mann, der vom Sirius kam". David von Bassewitz is a freelance artist and illustrator based in Lübeck.
