Bernd Kissel, born in Saarbrücken in 1978, lives in Saarland near the French border. He published the comic series ‘SaarLegenden’ and ‘SaarlandAlbum’ in the Saarbrücker Zeitung. In 2016, Kissel drew the graphic novel ‘Münchhausen - Die Wahrheit übers Lügen’, written by Flix, for which they were honoured with the Rudolph Dirks Award. The graphic novel ‘Freistaat Flaschenhals’ was created in collaboration with author Marco Wiersch in 2019. In 2020, the kangaroo knocked on his door to create ‘The Kangaroo Comics’ six times a week for ZEIT Online together with flatmate Marc-Uwe Kling. Since then, two anthologies with all the strips have been published by Carlsen.
