Julia Kleinbeck, born in 1982 in Stuttgart, holds a doctorate in art history and is a freelance draughtswoman and currently lives in Karlsruhe. She works as a lecturer in drawing and the basics of visual design. In her artistic work, she mainly explores the stories between the lines in the format of ‘silent comics’. Paying attention to the unnoticed, the fleeting and making it visible is a major concern of hers. Her work has been shown at comic festivals and published in magazines. She is the winner of the ARD Kultur Creators Competition 2022 and subsequently realised ‘Connecting Stories’, a collection of various graphic essays on feminist topics produced by SWR, together with the illustrator Lucie Langston. In February 2024, Julia Kleinbeck joined the curation group of "Wie geht es dir? Zeichner*innen gegen Antisemitismus, Hass und Rassismus" (How are you? Illustrators against antisemitism, hatred and racism).
