Constantin Satüpo, born in Moscow in 1978, studied book art at the Ivan Fedorov University. In 2013, he moved to Berlin, where he completed his master's degree in visual communication at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee. In 2019, Constantin Satüpo received a cultural exchange grant from the state of Berlin to study in Paris, where he researched material and began work on the book "Am Hügel", a literary reportage of the drug distribution centre known as "Crack Hill" in Paris. The project was a finalist for the Berthold Leibinger Stiftung's 2023 Comic Book Prize.
The "Crack Hill", a hill located directly on the Paris ring road and just a few hundred metres from Porte de la Chapelle, has existed for 20 years. It has been cleared by the police more than fifteen times. Hundreds of addicts gather here every day to buy and smoke crack cocaine. But this place of hopelessness is also home to Charles, Melanie and Farida, who all deal with their problems and their addiction in their own way.Constantin Satüpo introduces us to some of the inhabitants of this homeless tent city. The special thing about it is that the entire narrative text was written as rap. The chanting thumps and hammers through this reportage and takes the reader into the harsh reality of the French metropolis.
