Georg Graf von Westphalen
Georg Graf von Westphalen was born in Cologne in 1971, studied medicine and has been working as "Senior Concept Designer eHealth" at the DocCheck doctors' network since 2000. He works as a freelance comic artist, creates games and develops character designs (including "Bernd das Brot" for the ARD/ZDF children's channel KiKa). His comics and cartoons focus on the unconditional basic income, politics, philosophy, medicine and psychoanalysis.
His work has recently been shown in exhibitions in Cologne ("Du bist der Grund für ein Einkommen!"), Erlangen (Comic-Salon: "Untergrund", "Revolution", "Ausbruch") and Aachen (Cartoonwettbewerb: "Ist es denn zu glauben?!"). In addition to freelance projects ("Tiles From The Rabbid Whole") and publications with Cosmix and Edition Panel, he draws cartoons for U-Comix and the serialized comic "Kafka's Monkey". The news magazine Hintergrund regularly publishes comics on various political and social topics.
His innovative “Graphic Science Expedition” on human nature ("Hilfe, ich bin ein Mensch!") will be published in collaboration with his cousin Andreas von Westphalen in early September 2024 by Westend-Verlag. In addition to digital brushes and mixed media collages, he also experimented with new A.I. tools and QR code excursions on 250 pages to convey “dry” non-fiction texts in a humorous and interactive way.
