Hayao Miyazaki, the founder of the Japanese Studio Ghibli, re-released his first feature-length film “Lupin III: Das Schloss des Cagliostro” from the year 1979 on the 45th anniversary of his studio. While robbing a casino, the grandson of the legendary master thief Arsène Lupin steals several bags full of cash which turn out be counterfeit money. In order to exact revenge, Lupin investigates the matter along with his accomplice Jigen. Their investigation takes them to the European principality of Cagliostro. However, everything does not go according to plan: they discover the person who counterfeited the money and makes acquaintance of the princess Clarisse, who has found herself in serious trouble. In addition to that, they discover hidden treasure. The inspector from Interpol Zenigata is also on Lupin’s tail and is trying to catch him.
