Jens Cornils, born in 1982 in Soltau, studied illustration at the HAW Hamburg. In addition to comics, he also illustrates fairy tales and legends for children. His debut ‘Zeter und Mordio’ will be published by avant-verlag in autumn 2024 and is based on a criminal case from 1687, which Glückel von Hameln, the first German-Jewish female writer, describes in her memoirs. The work was honoured as one of nine finalists for the Berthold Leibinger Stiftung's Comic Prize 2024 and is being produced in collaboration with the ‘Geschichtomat’ project of the Institute for the History of German Jews (IGdJ).
