A cultural and educational cooperation project with schools in Erlangen and comic artists as part of the 21st International Comic Salon 2024
9 April to 2 June 2024

What do I want to communicate? That I can do something particularly well, that I am proud of. What I look forward to. What I am afraid of. What gives me hope. What troubles me. What moments of happiness are for me.
Mentally and artistically, children and young people in comic workshops under the motto "What I want to tell the world" have dealt with their needs and translated them into the language of comics. This could concern their personal situation or wishes for a world of tomorrow. Expressing themselves, looking inward narratively, and exploring artistically what life in this world means to them - 300 children and young people from various educational institutions in Erlangen have participated in workshops with well-known comic artists since the Easter holidays.
With a lot of imagination and creativity, they immersed themselves in the world of comics. Enthusiastic and full of surprising ideas, they developed their stories and then translated them into drawings, stroke by stroke, with high concentration. Numerous works - from drawing exercises to new comic heroes to entire comic stories - have emerged in a total of 15 workshops. A selection of these can be seen during the Comic Salon in the premises of the Jugendkunstschule. On Friday, 31 May at 5:00 p.m., there will be a reception in the exhibition with the workshop leaders.

With the project "Comics conquer Classrooms", students are given the opportunity to creatively participate in the programme of the 21st International Comic Salon and to get to know the diversity of graphic literature through the various offers.
