Illustrator Jean-Jacques Sempé and Comic-author René Goscinny created the character “Little Nick” in a Parisian café in the 1950s. Little Nick goes to school, makes friends, meets girls, travels during holidays and the experiences adventures – he leads an uncomplicated, happy childhood full of small adventures. Curious as he is, he repeatedly sneaks into the studio of his two creators. He follows Goscinny and Sempé at work and asks them questions – sometimes at the typewriter, sometimes sitting on their shoulders, or peeking out of the drawing paper to speak to them. He is interested in knowing about his life. The two narrate to Nick the stories of his friendships and thereby also indulge themselves in their own childhood hopes and dreams.
