Emmie Arbel. Die Farbe der Erinnerung

Based on personal conversations and intense encounters, Barbara Yelin's "Emmie Arbel. Die Farbe der Erinnerung" tells the story of a Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust as a child and the traumatic effects on her life. She finds images for the unspeakable, for what must be told, while conveying a universal message of self-assertion, empowerment, hope, and strength. Following the reading, Barbara Yelin – awarded the Special Jury Prize (Max and Moritz Award 2024) – will discuss with her editor Charlotte Schallié about the omnipresence of history, the importance of remembering, and the possibilities of drawing as a medium of exploration, research, and visibility.
