Juliette im Frühling (FR 2024)

Juliette, an illustrator of children’s books, returns from Paris to her hometown in the French countryside and wants to spend two relaxing weeks with her family. However, chaos awaits her: her sister is in the middle of an existential crisis, she is met with her caring but somewhat moody father, her mother is in the middle of a New Age phase and her beloved grandmother has to get used to her new life in a nursing home. Then Juliette meets the friendly but solitary bartender Polux… A profound, genial, and entertaining film about family relationships, the little absurdities of everyday-life, and the search for the meaning of one’s own life. The film is based on the graphic novel “Juliette: Gespenster kehren im Frühling zurück” by Camille Jourdy, which is nominated for this year’s Max und Moritz Award.
