Comic author and storyteller, film director, screenwriter, and novelist: Joann Sfar (awarded the Max and Moritz Prize for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement in 2024) is one of the most versatile artists in France and one of the most prolific contemporary comic artists overall. As a draftsman, Sfar has developed a distinctive style, ranging from sketch-like illustrations to delicate ink drawings and drawing inspiration from painting. As an author, he never tells stories in a linear fashion but leaves room for the reader's imagination.
